Norwegian Government Headquarters: A Block

The overall scheme is comprised of seven buildings with up to 4,500 workspaces. Five are new-build (A, B, C and D Blocks) and two are refurbished (H Block dating 1958 is a post-war modernist block, and G Block dating 1906 was Norway’s first ever Government buiding).

On 13.04.2026 the official opening of the New Government Headquarters saw over 1000 members of the public, collegues and collaborators gather together to celebrate the completion of A Block, D Block and the Highrise. The buildings welcomed government officials who moved into their new home this week.

It marked a pivotal moment for Oslo, as architectural repair has created a space for the people: a space of security, openness, and progress. The Norwegian Government has moved in, and the space has been stitched back into the city’s public realm.
