Rosemoor Studios will comprise 2 two-bedroom apartments and 2 one- bedroom apartments and Orford House will be a large four-bedroom town house.
Rosemoor Studios have been designed as a contemporary insertion into the historic townscape. Compositionally, the façade reinterprets the townhouses of adjacent Rawlings Street, with precast stone base providing a distinction between the ground floor and upper stories, which borrow from the same language of brick walls punctuated by stone framed openings. The expressed precast framing, vertical window proportions and their asymmetrical relationship are designed to draw from the surrounding context whist providing a façade that is visually engaging. Window openings and the precast framing are accentuated with deep setbacks whilst visually connecting with skylights or the sky beyond.
The proposed materials; high quality, coal-fired pale brickwork and precast stone bring the sense of the neighbouring stucco through but allows the building to express the former townscape gap and the building’s individuality. The brickwork and precast are complimented by simple and delicate metal window and balustrade detailing. The interiors will seek to compliment the exteriors and will feature a warm contemporary palette and make use of materials including timber, slate and brass.
