The Floating Garden of Aldgate
This temporal landmark sited in the former location of Ald-Gate exploits challenging site conditions, whilst contributing to the wider regeneration of the area. Our aspiration was to create a secluded garden space, whilst maintaining pedestrian movement through the site.
The solution is a floating garden, above the busy street environment with the tapering timber structure responding to the pedestrian routes, whilst incorporating staircase, platform lift and coffee bar. The timber underbelly, opens up to offer glimpses to the surrounding area and provide access to the garden level.
