Haptic Wins Designers Saturday Award for Restaurant Haakon

Haptic’s ambition which impressed the jury of Sadie Morgan, David Coats and Tekla Evelina Severin was to stress the value of using long-lasting materials and timeless design. The judges praised Haptic, saying: “The jury is convinced the interior will age gracefully and look forward to how it will look in ten years.”
Haptic created a material palette where the details from the building’s exterior continue inside. Plants were used as an important design element, allowing nature to reclaim the interior spaces. Subtle details create the main framework and decor making it possible to use the space as a canteen by day, and an atmospheric bar in the evening.
The concept canteen/restaurant is situated in the newly renovated office building at Haakon VII Street in Vika, Oslo.
The Designers Saturday Award’s purpose is to highlight interior architects’ abilities and to encourage professional development and high quality design. The theme for this year's award was ‘responsibility’. For more information see here.
