Haptic invited for International Quarter competition
Haptic were invited by Lend Lease to provide a design proposal for a gateway pavilion into the International Quarter in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The proposed Pavilion is designed to engage with its context, by forming a strong relationship with the International Quarter, as well as the surrounding Stratford masterplan. Its positioning responds directly to the existing tunnel through placement of the two primary cubes. It respects existing and proposed circulatory routes, whilst framing views and creating a coherent strategy for the public realm.
Through the consideration of its placement as a multi-faceted landmark, the Pavilion activates its frontages with open and inviting thresholds, as well as providing intriguing glimpses to the surrounding area. In this way, the pavilion is democratic, engaging with its users and the community.
