Airport City Hotel
First Phase Delievered
Haptic, in collaboration with Nordic - Office of Architecture in Norway have delivered phase 1 of the draft project for Hotel BLU by Bergen Airport. The hotel will be located a short distance from the new airport terminal and will be highly visible from both the terminal in the northwest and the future business park in the south.
The hotel is scheduled to open in the autumn of 2016, well before the opening of Bergen Airport's new terminal in 2017. It will include 300 rooms over three floors as well as all other hotel facilities. Conference centre, restaurant, lobby bar, fitness centre and kitchen area is located on the ground floor, while car parking spaces, deliveries, storage and utility rooms will be under ground.
The concept is based on a compact and free form, where the building is wrapped around an open courtyard, providing the hotel functions on the ground floor with good lighting conditions. The building shape is reinforced with surface- suspended vertical screens ranging in density and creating interesting interaction with the underlying windows.
A distinctive landmark hotel of high architectural value will enrich the development potential for both the adjacent airport and future business park.
